Owen Lee Cannon 73 year old, Jay, Oklahoma resident passed away on Friday February 18, 2011, following an extended illness. Owen was born on October 22, 1937 in Owasso, Oklahoma, to James and Elizabeth (Smith) Cannon. Owen worked for many years as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator for Pepsi and John Deere, as well as working on his own after retiring. However Owen was actually a jack of all trades and a very skilled welder. Owen married Cecellia (Collins) on July 2, 1982 at the Delaware County Courthouse in Jay, Oklahoma. While Owen had worked for many years and was successful at what he did, even without having a highschool diploma and so partly for himself and partly to encourage a family member he took G.E.D. classes and in 2004 received his degree. Owen was an avid outdoorsman and hunted all sorts of game, from deer, to squirrel and rabbit. He enjoyed fishing but was especially fond of catfishing, and loved to have big cookouts after a day on the lake. He also enjoyed playing chess with friends and family and enjoyed visiting. He was the kind of man who was always telling jokes and had a smile for you, and would make you smile. Owen was preceded in death by his parents, and step-father Norma Blevins, and step-mother- Padie Cannon. Owen is survived by his wife, Cecellia, sons, Curtis Cannon, Anthony Cannon, and step-son Tony Ray Smith, daughter Peggy Sue Booth and step-daughter Tonya Peatree, brothers, Chuch Chapel and Robert Cannon, sisters, Dorothy Mae, Carriole Henry, Loise Jean and Mary.
