Pansy Johnson

Pansy June Johnson 71, of Nowata passed away at the OSU Medical Center in Tulsa on Thursday, March 17, 2009. She was born on July 06, 1937 in Vinita, Oklahoma to Casey Kenneth and Lorene Ruth (Rauston) Weaver. Pansy grew up in Vinita graduating from Vinita High School in 1955. She married Lloyd Johnson in Miami, Oklahoma on August 25, 1956. Together they moved to Nowata in 1966 were Pansy was a very active member of the community. She attended the First Baptist Church in Nowata. Pansy was actively involved with the 4-H, the Nowata Booster Club, the County Extension Office at the Fair Grounds, and was a member of the Fair Board and the Chamber of Commerce. Pansy enjoyed traveling, cooking and baking but nothing compared to spending time with her grandchildren and watching her granddaughter's play softball. She was a loving wife of 52 years, an adoring mother, a wonderful grandmother and great grandmother. Pansy is survived by her husband Lloyd Johnson of Nowata, her daughter Carla and her husband Gary Craig of Bartlesville, her son Casey and his wife Ginger Johnson of Monroe, North Carolina, 5 grandchildren Lindsey Hallstead of Derby, Kansas, Lacey Craig of Tahlequah, Logan Craig of Tahlequah, Casey Johnson Jr. of Boon, North Carolina, and Christine Johnson of Monroe, North Carolina, 2 great grandsons Hudson Hallstead and Mason Johnson, numerous extended family members and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Casey and Lorene Weaver, and her Uncle Harley and Aunt Maude Weaver. Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009 in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Larry DeLay officiating. Visitation will be held at the Benjamin Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 from 4pm until 9pm and Thursday March 19, 2009 from 8am until 9pm. Online condolences may be left for the Johnson family at www.honoringmemories.com. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Pansy's name can be made to the 1033 Wheel Chair Van, 321 W. Cherokee, Nowata, OK 74048.
