Patricia Mary Melton, 61 year old well known Vinita resident, died late Tuesday evening, April 15, 2008 at her home, after an extended illness. She was born January 29, 1947 in Harrisburg, Illinois to Martin and Denise (Adams) Doherty. Patricia graduated with a recreation degree from Southern Illinois University. She retired from Eastern State Hospital as Recreation Director after 30 years of service; she also worked at First National Bank in Vinita for the past 8 years. Patricia was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Vinita. She also liked animals, going bowling, craft shows, and being with her husband and family. Patricia was active in the Women's Group at the Catholic Church, Oktoberfest and the Hoops for Hope. The family includes: her husband Carrel "Deek" Melton of the home, her father Martin Doherty of Evansville, Indiana, two daughters, Rhonda Lucas and husband Tim of Miami, Shelly Long and husband Bobby of Ketchum; a special friend, Diane Coyne of Vinita, a half brother, Guy Stouls and wife Marianne and their daughter, Alexandra of Paris, France, two step brothers, Ed Rehrman of Lexington, Kentucky, Bobby Rehrman of Canton, Ohio, eight-grandchildren, Kyle, Kristen, Kaleb, Kolton, Konnor Lucas, Casey Smith, Ty Smith and Nolan Long, three great-grandchildren and one aunt Aggie Kanady of Eureka, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her mother, Denise Stouls, step brother, Ronnie Rehrman and her step-mother Lil Doherty. Pall bearers will be her grandson's, Kyle Lucas, Kaleb Lucas, Kolton Lucas, Casey Smith, Ty Smith, and Nolan Long. Honorary bearers will be, Joe Coyne, Jim Patrick, Rick Helton, and Konnor Lucas. The Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2008 at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Vinita, with Father Alex Kennedy officiating.
