Graveside services for Patricia Lee Sharp are 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Ball Cemetery with Rev. Rick Thayer officiating. Patricia Lee "Pat" Sharp, 87, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born May 1, 1927 in Pawnee City, Nebraska to Donald William and Eliza (Rea) Bennett. Pat grew up in the oilfields of southeast Kansas and northern Oklahoma. She graduated high school in 1945 in Denver, Colorado and went on to attend a semester at the University of Nebraska School of Nursing. While there, she was a member of the WWII Cadet Nursing Corp. Moving back to Tulsa, she then attended one semester at the University of Tulsa and was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. Patricia married William Leroy "Bill" Sharp on June 22, 1947 in Nowata and the couple moved to a ranch north of Childers, Oklahoma. The Sharps moved to Oklahoma City in 1963 and continued to maintain the ranch, to which they moved back in 1971. While in Oklahoma City, she was leader in the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. After moving back to the ranch, she attended Oklahoma State University and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Development. The ranch sold in 1999 and the couple moved to Edmond, Oklahoma. Pat was a member of the Edmond First Presbyterian Church and was active in the Women's Circle. She had been very active in the Home Extension Clubs during her time in Nowata County and supported several charities. In 2005, she was inducted into the Oklahoma Conservation Hall of Fame for her work in the women's auxiliary. Pat and Bill were also very active in the Republican Party on a state and national level. She enjoyed working on her flower beds, puzzles, and crafts. Pat was passionate about genealogy and was a member of the Mayflower Society. Pat is survived by four children, Mike Sharp and his wife Diane of Edmond, Sharon Sharp of Guthrie, Richard Sharp and his wife Janice of Perry, Phillip Sharp and his wife Diane of Woodbridge, VA., seven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Pat also has a sister, Jane Capps of Tulsa. She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Eliza Bennett; her husband, William Leroy Sharp; a brother, Donald W. Bennett II; a sister, Jean Quist. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or a charity of your choice.
