Earl Eugene Harris was born on 10-31-31. On his 1st birthday he was adopted from the Catholic Charities of Bartlesville by Dan & Beulah Fournier, and his name was changed to Patrick Daniel (Pat) Fournier. Pat’s Dad was co-owner of the “Fournier Brothers Tire Store” on Johnstone Ave, until he passed away when Pat was 12.
Pat’s Mom was a stay-at-home Mom, and together with her sister Meda, they jointly raised Pat until he left for college. According to Meda “Pat was perfect, he never got into trouble, and he never got a spanking. He just didn’t ever talk much though.” And that last sentence never changed for his entire life.
Pat did not know about his adoption until he was 77. It came as quite a shock to him and to his family. Pat only found out because of legal papers from the death of his sister Betty.
Pat’s earth suit passed away on 7-17-24 at the age of 92, and he is now enjoying eternal life with Jesus and Carolyn (the love of his life and wife for 60 years).
Pat loved basketball, and he had many prominent articles written about him by Meda when he was in high school, as she was an Editor for the Examiner-Enterprise. Pat loved to fish and became a Certified Master Angler from his accomplishments of fishing while on his numerous fishing trips to Canada. Pat also loved to bowl and retired from bowling with a league average of 192. And, he bowled a perfect 300 game, which is very rare.
Pat worked for Phillips 66 for 44 years beginning in Kansas City, before being moved to Bartlesville in 1970. Pat worked in the credit card division for 34 years and then was promoted into global logistics auditing for the final 10 years; 8 of which he spent traveling the world (frequently with Carolyn). He did have a 2-year period of “early retirement” that was bridged in the early 90’s.
His wife Carolyn preceded him in death by 9 years. Together they had four sons: (1) Mike, married to Pam, granddaughters Jackie and Angela, and great-grandchildren Will, Ava, Emma, and Owen. (2) Paul, married to Nancy, with grandchildren Britni, Michael, Andrea, Nicholas, John Paul, James, Elli Rose, Gabriella, Joseph, Jesse, and Ruby Belle. (3) Ken, a life-long bachelor, and the incredibly loving live-in caretaker of his parents for the past 9 years. And (4) David, with grandson Stephan, and great-granddaughter (Charlie Mae). Pat & Carolyn created an incredible heritage, and all their descendants are still living.
Pat & Carolyn were active members of 1st Baptist, Highland Park, Virginia Avenue, and back to 1st Baptist which was their last church. They loved their Sunday School classes, Wednesday night prayer meetings, and enjoyed every pot-luck supper. They both loved Jesus and were great witnesses for Him and His Kingdom.
PLEASE, no flowers and no sympathy cards. Instead of spending money on those, please make a charitable donation to “The Journey Home” in Dewey or “Helping Hands Hospice” in Bartlesville.
