Paul Lawrence Irvine, 63 year old Grove area resident passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Integris General Hospital in Grove, Oklahoma following an extended illness. Paul was born on August 6, 1947. Paul proudly served his country in 3 different branches of the military over the course of his life. After high school, Paul joined the United States Marine Corps. During the Vietnam Conflict, he transferred to the United States Navy. Soon after the conflict ended Paul transferred a third time to the United States Army, where he served for most of his distinguished military career. At the end of his career, Paul retired as a Sergeant First Class. Even after retirement, he continued to serve in the United States Army Reserves for a number of years. Paul retired to the Grand Lake area and was an active member of The Posse, a group of motorcycle enthusiast. Always an outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, especially bass, hunting, and was a certified SCUBA dive instructor. Paul was also a licensed pilot. Paul is survived by three daughters, Patty Hon of Kimberling City, Missouri; Amy Sloan and Kristi Martin both of Springfield, Missouri; one brother, Kenneth Irvine, currently residing in the Philippines; one step-daughter, Trisha Anderson of South Haven, Mississippi; two granddaughters, Halie Lentz and Brittany Lentz both of Kimberling City, Missouri; and two step-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held sometime later this year. Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma.
