Graveside services for Paul Dean Melton are at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Nowata with Pastor Wendell Abbott officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Benjamin Funeral Service. A family visitation will be held at Benjamin Funeral Service from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2012. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com. Paul Dean Melton passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the St. John's Medical Center in Tulsa. He was born on September 17, 1935 in Watova, Oklahoma to Vernon and Etta (Mayfield) Melton. He grew up in Old Alluwe, Oklahoma and started working for the City of Bartlesville Water Department in 1952. He was the supervisor for the waste water plant in Bartlesville until 1993. Paul married Lola Earlene Mayo on September 14, 1962 in Bartlesville. They made their home in Bartlesville and would've been married 50 years in September. Paul enjoyed hunting deer and squirrel with his son and friends, fishing, and having a big garden every year. He loved the outdoors and spent many hours with his family enjoying nature. Earlene would like to thank Paul's brother Ross for all the care he gave Paul over the past few years. Without Ross's help she would not have been able to care for Paul. Paul is survived by his wife, Lola Earlene Melton of the home; two sons, John Jefferson Melton and wife April of Bartlesville, Jimmie Dean Martin and wife Carol of Bartlesville; one granddaughter, Kassie Marie Garner and husband Justin of Pawhuska; three grandsons, Jered Martin, Wesley Martin, and Evan Martin, all of Bartlesville; one brother, Ross Melton of Bartlesville; three sisters, Tracy Danner and husband Bob of Shady Cove, Oregon, Donnalee Hayes and husband Howe of El Dorado Hills, California, Sherry and husband Basil Ross of Locust Grove and several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Etta (Mayfield) Melton; a son, Paul Dean Melton II; two brothers, Jimmy Jack Melton and Phillip Ranny Melton.
