Benjamin Funeral Service ~ Nowata, Oklahoma........ On January 13, 1939 a baby girl was born to Isaias and Johnnie (Edwards) Urbina, in Tampico, Mexico. Later, the family relocated from Old Mexico to Houston, Texas and eventually to Bristow, Oklahoma. Pearl was a 1957 graduate of Lincoln High School, in Bristow, Oklahoma. She married Louis Matthews Jr. in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 23, 1962 and gained a daughter (Kathy Lynn). To this marriage three daughters and one son was born. Pearl was a longtime and faithful member of the Little Flock Baptist Church of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, where she united in 1968. She served as church secretary, treasurer and clerk, and was a dedicated member of the St. Paul District Baptist Association's Charity auxiliary. She loved the Lord, her family, her church and church family and remained faithful throughout her entire life! She was employed for many years at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, in Coffeyville, Kansas and served in various positions including as a supervisor. She was very fair, firm and professional in her job duties and earned a reputation as a faithful and committed employee. After retiring from her job, she enjoyed traveling and seeing new places as well as crocheting, but her most dearest treasure was her family. Her husband, children, and grandchildren were so dear to her heart. She loved watching her children and grandchildren compete in sports (she also loved the Oklahoma City Thunder Basketball team). Most of all she spent as much time as she could care for and loving her family. She passed away at her home in Nowata County, Oklahoma on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 with her family at her side. Pearl is survived by her husband, Louis Matthews, Jr., of the home; five children, Kathy Clark of Nowata, Antonio Isaac Matthews of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, Lisa Louise Matthews Orange (Vincent) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Angela Denise Matthews Houston of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Rosalind Matthews McGee (Troy) of Midland, TX. She also leaves eleven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters, Rose Lee Edwards Marzett and Mary Ann Clow, and her parents.
