Peggy Pruitt

Peggy Lee Pruitt, age 57, a resident of Bartlesville died Friday, August 31, 2007 at her home in Bartlesville. Peggy Lee Pruitt was born in Bartlesville, Ok, January 4, 1950, the daughter of Norman Doyle Nicholson and Twylah Metta (Carr) Nicholson. She was raised and educated in Bartlesville graduating from Sooner High. Peggy Lee (Nicholson) Pruitt and Randy Pruitt were united in marriage on May 28, 1976. Music always played an important part in Peggy's life. Before the advent of modern day electronics and entertainment options to occupy our time Peggy, her mother and sister would sit around and sing together for hours. They would sometimes have someone drop in with a guitar. Then someone would happen to have his fiddle with him and an impromptu songfest would ensue. She sang in the choir at each church and school she attended, and went to the Sooner High Choir Alumni Concert last summer at the new Performing Arts Center at the High School. Peggy's children were highly influenced by her love of music, themselves becoming fans of bands like the Beatles, the Mommas and the Poppas and the Everly Brothers. Her daughter plays in a Houston-area band and has a recording studio in her home, constantly recording other area artists. She has even released an original song, chosen for an independent film's soundtrack. Her son also took his mother's love of music and made it his own. He played in the Madison Middle School and Bartlesville High School bands as a percussionist, and attended Pittsburg State University on a music scholarship. Later he would graduate from Oklahoma Wesleyan University with a degree in music performance, and continues in music to this day with several local bands, teaching and a senior management position at Guitar Center. In the last 10 years of Peggy's life her greatest pleasure came from performing with the Bartlesville Choral Society and the Praise and Worship Team at Grace Community Church, never missing a rehearsal or performance during her four year bout with Cancer. All of that was a great source of comfort from the daily trials involved with fighting illness. She also took great joy in the blessing of her first granddaughter. Sadly she will not be here to meet her newest grandbaby in earthly form, but it is certain that she will be singing in the heavenly choir. All who love her will be listening closely to hear that heavenly voice again. Peggy Lee Pruitt is survived by her husband Randy Pruitt, one son Christopher Jon Pruitt and his wife Alexis of Tulsa, one daughter Cindy Jean Pruitt and Keith Blodgette of Houston, Texas, one grand daughter Kaylee River Pruitt of Tulsa, her mother Twylah Metta Nicholson of Dewey, three brothers Gerald Nicholson and his wife Kathy of Tulsa, Melvin Nicholson and his wife Phyllis of Havana, Kansas and Dickey Nicholson and his wife Kristen of Bartlesville. Mrs. Pruitt was preceded in death by her father Norman Doyle Nicholson and one sister Marsha Ann Rabebaugh. A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society and those who wish to contribute may do so in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society, 3470 SE Frank Phillips Blvd. Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006.
