Peggy M. Vogel, age 83, passed peacefully on Thursday, July 12, 2007 in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her family at her side. Peggy was born on June 28, 1924 to Dr. Roy C. and Marguerite E. (Bliven) Smith in Enid, Oklahoma. Her early education was in the Enid Public Schools and she graduated from Enid High School in 1942. She attended Phillips University in Enid majoring in fine arts. She married Ervin E. "Joe" Vogel of Alliance, Nebraska on May 20, 1944 at the First Baptist Church in Enid. They spent their early married years in Cherryvale, Kansas raising their family. Peggy was very active in civic clubs and the First Presbyterian Church there. She was a resident of Bartlesville for over thirty eight years. In 1971 she embarked on a successful career journey in Real Estate, that lasted until her retirement in 1994. She was an agent for the Claiborne and McAnaw and Wright real estate companies. She was an active member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church and served on several committees. She was active in the arts in Bartlesville participating in civic organizations patronizing the arts. Her hobbies included oil painting, gardening, reading and traveling. Peggy had moved to Tulsa in June 2004 and had been a resident of Aberdeen Heights and Montereau living communities Mr. Vogel preceded her in death in June, 2003, also preceding her were her parents, a daughter in law, Rebecca Esser Vogel, and a brother, Charles B. Smith. Surviving her are her three sons: Stephen and wife Wanda of Tulsa, James and wife Patricia of Bixby, and Richard and his wife Kelly of Kansas City, MO, one daughter: Rebecca (Vogel) Gates and her husband Jess of Broken Arrow, Seven grandchildren: Amanda (Vogel) Jones, Jonathan Vogel, Courtney Vogel, Christopher Vogel, Michael Vogel, Elizabeth Gates and Maggie Gates. Two step children: Drew Grinstead and Kate Grinstead. A Memorial service has been planned for Monday, July 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Dale P. Scott presiding. Private burial service will be conducted at the family plot in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Neekamp - Luginbuel Funeral Home.
