Benjamin Funeral Service - Nowata, Oklahoma - 918-273-2700 Peggy (Hemphill) Wilson passed away at her home in Nowata on December 2, 2016. She was born January 6, 1943 in Nowata to Jesse and Betty (Robards) Hemphill. Peggy was a 1960 graduate of Lenapah High School. She worked for 21 years at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Claremore in the Food Service Department. She was a very loving and kind mother, grandmother, and sister. Her family meant the world to her and she would do anything for them. Peggy was a "Skip-Bo" champion and loved playing with her grandchildren as well as working crossword puzzles. She enjoyed watching the old westerns on TV, especially Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and The Big Valley. Peggy was a member of the First Church of God in Nowata. She held a special place in her heart for all her family. She will be missed by all who knew her. Preceding Peggy Wilson in death are her parents, Jesse and Betty Hemphill, two children, Tina Ann Tharp, Allen Lee Smith, and a brother Gary Hemphill. She is survived by two daughters, Scarlet Owens of Jay, Donna Wood, of Vinita; 5 grandchildren, Melody Smith, Edward Brown, Memory Wood, Justin Owens, Terry Wilson, Allen Lee Smith JR; 3 great grandchildren, Makayla Smith, Bailey Smith, Emma Pickering; 1 great - great - granddaughter, Kamlynn Epple; siblings, Charles, William, Robert, and Roy Lee Hemphill; many other relatives and a host of friends. Graveside funeral services for Peggy Wilson will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Chelsea Cemetery, Chelsea, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata. The family suggests donations to the First Church of God in Nowata. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
