Phillip Bobbie "Bob" Frakes, age 86 and longtime resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, April 11, in the Jane Phillips Medical Center. Phillip Bobbie Frakes was born on November 9, 1928 in Okesa, Oklahoma. He was the son of Clyde Ross Frakes and Luella May (Owen) Frakes. He had lived in the Okesa area where he farmed until he moved to Bartlesville. He was a graduate of Nelagony High School. After his high school graduation, he became a member of the U.S. Army Air Corp. where he served in Japan. His loyal service to his country began in October 1946 and in August 1949, he received his Honorable Discharge. Upon his discharge from the service, he returned to his Oklahoma home. On August 26, 1953, Bob and Mary Jo Taylor were united in marriage at the Virginia Avenue Baptist Church, Bartlesville. They had a long and happy marriage. Mary Jo preceded Bob in death on December 17, 2010. In 1967, Bob became an employee of the TRW/Reda Pump Company in Bartlesville, retiring after 23+ years of service in 1990. After retirement, Bob enjoyed doing woodworking, but what he enjoyed most was having family around him. He is survived by two children, son, Joseph L. Frakes and his wife, Sofia, of San Diego, California, and daughter, Verna Frakes of Muskogee, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Carey Lynn Taylor, Sheryl Lynn Harris, Mary L. Frakes, Theresa L. Frakes, and Phillip T. Frakes; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Smith and Lora Williams; and sister-in-law, Lorraine Frakes. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Jo; brothers, Charles, Ora, Harry and Clyde; and sisters, Esther and Dora. Visitation will be held on Monday and Tuesday from 12 Noon-8:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave. Family will be present to greet friends on Tuesday from 6-8 PM. Services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home chapel. Rev. Bruce Ganze of the Revival Time Outreach Center will officiate and Pastor Wally Thames of the Virginia Avenue Baptist Church will assist. Interment will follow the service in the Talala Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Arnold Moore and Neekamp Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
