Preston Smith

Luginbuel Funeral Home, Vinita, (918) 256 - 5555 - Preston Smith, 75 year old lifetime rural Vinita resident passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the Integris Grove Hospital in Grove, Oklahoma with his family comforting him. Preston was born March 24, 1940 at the home place in rural Vinita to his parents James L. and Nancy Allie (Jones) Smith. He grew up in the Carselowey community; Preston lived most of his life where he grew up and was a graduate of Vinita High School. Preston loved his family and he was a very hard worker. When he was a young man he rode a motorcycle and worked and followed the wheat harvest as far as North Dakota. He and his brother Andy ran the Gas Station Ketchum turn off for years. After selling the station, Preston went on to managing a machine shop in Vinita and he was a one of a kind welder. After leaving the shop he joined the mill rites working in the Tulsa area and traveling to out of state jobs as well until he decided to stay home and work on his own place. Preston loved to hunt deer, rabbits, squirrel, and quail. He leaves behind one sister, Lois Cobb; his four daughters that he had with Evangeline Smith, Alice Nall and husband Carl; Wanda Scott and Brad Nowlin; Sheila Wright and Ron Nigh; Hedy Francis and husband Trampas; twelve grandchildren, Amanda LaPrairie, Aubri Nall, Riley Nall, Megan Phillippi, Montana Scott, Cheyenne Scott, Karsyn Nowlin, Rachel Smith, Preston Wright, Levi Nigh, T.K. Francis, Katie Francis, and Keegan Francis; seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and his many friends. Preston was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Buddy Smith; Andy Smith; and Austin Smith; and one great grandson, Tuff Greenwood. The family will greet friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. Celebration of Life services will be 10:00 am, Friday, July 24, 2015 at Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Vinita with Pastor Justin Turner officiating.
