Grove, OK - Quint B. Ditmore, 93, died Wednesday evening, February 14, 2007 at his home in Honey Creek Retirement Village in Grove, Ok. "Q.B." was born June 25, 1913 in Dumont, Texas to Robert Lee Ditmore and Jesse (Rogers) Ditmore. He moved from Texas to Red Rock, Oklahoma via covered wagon at an early age. Q.B. lived many places, as his fathered supplied oil field equipment by mule team. He married Mary Lorene "Rosie" Curry on June 25, 1939 at Neosho, Missouri. She preceded him in death October 21, 2000. Q.B. served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a ship's cook aboard a 2100 class Destroyer. The Ditmores moved to Grove in 1952 and has lived in the area ever since. Q.B. had worked a variety of jobs over the years. He was an electrician, sewing factory worker, a supply buyer for an oil pipeline company in South America. In Grove, the Ditmores owned four restaurants, including Ditmore's, Hamburger King and Ditmore's Drive-in, which featured some of the first curly-Q fries. He also worked for Graham's Grocery and later, Teel Construction. Q.B. was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Grove, and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed working on various things, (tinkering), walking and eating at Catfish John's. He was also preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Lynn Ditmore, four brothers, Bernice Ditmore, Luther Ditmore, Johnny Ditmore, and Bob Ditmore, and two sisters, Nobi Barnes, and Merle Cooper. Survivors include three children: Jean Dreier of Columbia, Missouri, Mike Ditmore and wife, Joan of Columbia, and Jan Ditmore of Grove; one brother, Neal Ditmore of Sedan, Kansas, a daughter-in-law, Judy Ditmore of Bristol, Tennessee; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and his dog, Cyrus McCormick. The family will host a reception in Q.B.'s honor, 6-8 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2007 in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church, Grove. Private family memorial service will held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Methodist Church or the Good Shepherd Hospice of Grove, Ok.
