Ralph C Johnson, Sr., age 88 of Vinita, died Monday, February 6, 2012. Ralph was born in Cyclone, MO on August 29, 1923, the son of Henry and Maude (McKinzie) Johnson. On July 12, 1944 he was united in marriage to Doris K. McPhail. Ralph worked as a Hydraulic Specialist in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1945. He also worked as a Greyhound Bus Driver for 35 years. He enjoyed raising and racing Quarter Horses, deer hunting, fishing, traveling, and cherishing time with family. Ralph was a member of the American Legion, the Greyhound Union, and the American Quarter Horse Association. Survivors include his son Ralph C. Johnson, Jr. and wife Marilyn of Vinita, granddaughters Deborah Johnson and Danny Chancey of St. Louis, and Melissa Lee and husband Rob of Chelsea, great grandchildren: Shelby Martin, Kristina Hulett, Robbie Lee, Kori Lee, Jennifer Martin, and Bobby Martin. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Doris Johnson and seven siblings. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Luginbuel Chapel with Pastor Kevin Lancaster officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
