ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK (918) 336-5225 - Raymond Charles "Ray" Richardson was born on September 26, 1929, in Downs, Kansas. He died on November 26, 2017, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was the son of Verlis and Anna (Sheets) Richardson. In 1947, Ray graduated from East High School in Denver, Colorado. He earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado, an MS in Chemical Engineering from Kansas State University, and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University. In 1956, Ray married Marilyn Broaddus of Bartlesville. They had three children, Susan, Tom and Rob. After working for several companies and teaching at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Ray and family arrived in Bartlesville in 1967 to begin a career with Phillips Petroleum and later he transferred to Applied Automation. He retired from Applied Automation in the 1980s. After four years in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Singapore working for Rohm and Haas, he returned to Bartlesville and married Gail Nelson in 1995. He then began teaching computer science at Oklahoma Wesleyan University from 1997 to 2005. Ray was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was a Stephen Minister and visited and delivered flowers to homebound members. He also served on the Board of ARC Group Homes, and was active in the community including theater, scouting, little league baseball and the Phillips 66 Splash Club. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed camping, fishing and boating. Ray is survived by his wife, Gail; daughter, Susan Curnutte; son, Tom Richardson and wife, Mel; son, Rob Richardson and wife, Paula; stepchildren, Paul Nelson and wife, Amy; and Jill Nelson and husband, Jesse Guessford. He has numerous grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jeanne. Ray will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He never hesitated to lend a hand and a smile to a friend or a stranger. He was positive in all situations, He loved to share his jokes and stories with others. In addition, Ray excelled at baking and spoiled his family and friends with his fantastic cinnamon rolls. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Ray's memory be made to The Salvation Army, 101 N. Bucy Ave., Bartlesville, OK 74003. For those who wish to pay their respects prior to the service, a register book will be available in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave., Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM. Services for Mr. Richardson will be held on Saturday, December 2, at 11:00 AM in Bartlesville First Church, 4715 Price Rd. Officiating will be Rev. Tari Carbaugh. Interment is private family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home.
