Reese Rowden went to meet his loved ones in heaven on November 15, 2009. He was ninety-three years old. Reese was born on July 17, 1916 in Brice, Missouri. He graduated school in Lebanon, Missouri where he excelled in all sports. He held a pole vaulting record for many years. He married Vivian Rader on March 8, 1936 she preceded him in death in 1991. Reese served in the United States Army during World War II. He was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He was a fireman most of his life. He was Assistant Chief at Fort Crowder and Fire Chief at Fort Leonardwood in Lebanon, Missouri. He retired and moved to Grove in 1977. He married Louise Rowden in 1992 She preceded him in death in 2009. Reese was a loving father and husband who loved to hunt and fish. Always helped his friends and neighbors. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Grove and served on the church board. He was preceded in death by a son Larry Rowden. Survivors include his children Judy Blessing and her husband Tom, Floyd Rowden and his wife Linda, Madelon Purdham and husband Wayne, a daughter in law Nancy Rowden. Step-Children surviving are Mark Ankrom, Matt Ankrom, Linda Norman and Daryel Shaffer, along with nine grandchildren sixteen great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Rowden will be Friday, November 20, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the First Christian Church in Grove with Dr. Wayne Shaw officiating. Interment will follow at the Washington Cemetery near Lebanon, Missouri at 2:30 PM. The Lebanon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4107 will be providing military rites. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
