Rex Dale Thomas, 84, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021.

Rex was born October 28, 1936, at Sweet Springs, Missouri to Carroll Christopher Thomas and Frances (Hurt) Thomas.  He grew up in Sweet Springs, where he met the love of his life, Madonna Lou Fangmann.  Rex graduated with an Engineering degree from the Missouri School of Mines and while there married Madonna on May 27, 1956.

In 1960 the family moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma and he began a 40-year career as a Petroleum Engineer.  He worked for The U.S. Bureau of Mines, The Department of Energy and the National Institute for Petroleum and Energy Research (NIPER).

He was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bartlesville, volunteering in the Van Ministry and the Braille Ministry.  He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, who enjoyed camping and traveling by RV.  Rex loved to read books and learn new things; he was an avid Bridge player and planted a garden every year.

Rex is survived by his three sons, David Thomas and wife, Sandra of Edmond, Oklahoma, James Thomas and wife, Belinda of North Richland Hills, Texas and Steven Thomas and wife, Lyn of Dewey; twelve grandchildren, Marissa Kasper and husband, Seth of Oklahoma City, Karly Thomas of Goodwell, Oklahoma, Brianna Thomas, Morgan Perez and husband, Juan, and Tyler Thomas, all of North Richland Hills, Texas, James Cutler and wife, Jackie Jo of Dewey, Adam Tompkins and wife, Linsey of Collinsville, Oklahoma, LaDonna Eastman and husband, Clint of Dewey, Matt Martin and wife, Dawnya of Dewey, Ashley Cheyney and husband, Levi of Oklahoma City, Marie Foster of Bartlesville, and Hawk Foster of Dewey; 14 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, by his wife of 47 years, Madonna on July 16, 2003; by a daughter Linda Thomas on December 24, 2012, and by twin sisters, Janis Harber and Joyce Meyer.

A memorial service will be held 10am, Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. William Shupe, officiating.  Cremation arrangements and services are entrusted to Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Redeemer Lutheran Church or Bartlesville Public Library in memory of Rex.  To leave an online condolence or your memories, visit www.honoringmemories.com.
