Richard Rinehart, Sr.

Richard Raymond "Dick" Rinehart, Sr. of Grove, Oklahoma died at 5:35 p.m., Friday, August 1, 2008 at his home and surrounded by his wife and children. He was 64. Dick was born October 8, 1943 in Humboldt, Kansas to Albert and Mary (Williams) Rinehart. He attended grade school in Lawrence, Kansas and high school in Ottawa, Kansas. For over 40 years, Dick worked as a welder for his father in Pleasant Grove, Kansas and for Keys Manufacturing in Newton, Kansas. For the last five years of his working life, he was a Fiber Optics Inspector for Sunbelt Telecommunications, a job he truly loved. Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who really enjoyed having his grandchildren around. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking. On November 27, 1970, he married Elizabeth Wynita Casey in Colby, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Phillip Rinehart; one grandson, Kyle Wright; one brother, Albert "Bud" Rinehart; and one sister, Betty Wilson. Survivors include five children and their spouses, Richard Rinehart, Jr. and his wife Molly of Hutchinson, Kansas, Lisa Wright and her husband Rick of Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, Bobbie Jo Howard and her husband Steve of Buhler, Kansas, Troy Keller and his wife Kim of Grove, Oklahoma and Ricky Rinehart and his wife Mary of Kansas City, Kansas; two brothers, Bob Rinehart of Louisburg, Kansas and Jim Rinehart of Wichita, Kansas; 11 grandchildren; and 2 and ½ great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 4, 2008 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Grove. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Grove with Chaplain David Rycroft officiating. According to Dick's wishes, cremation will take place following the service. The family requests memorials to the Richard Rinehart Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers.
