THURSDAY June 5, 2008 Robbie J. Dunlap Robbie Jean Dunlap was born in the Rocky Point area of southeastern Oklahoma on March 22, 1923, the youngest child of Porter & Effie Whitesides. She joined 3 siblings, J. R., Leah and Mary. She graduated from Panola High School and married Bill Dunlap in 1940, who preceded her in death in 2001. While he farmed, she continued her education at Eastern Oklahoma State College, and she received a Bachelor's degree in Education from East Central University in Ada. Her love of children and teaching continued for 37 years. In 1977, she was named Teacher of the Year in the Dewey, Oklahoma School system. Robbie maintained her ties with her home school and was named as the inductee to the 2005 Hall of Fame for the Panola High School. She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, and was active in the Dewey Chapter for several years. Robbie served as pianist and Sunday School teacher in the Rocky Point Methodist Church, and she remained faithful to her church work as Sunday School teacher, pianist and choir member of Dewey Methodist Church. As a person of great faith, she was a pillar of strength and comfort to her extended family. She is preceded in death by an infant, Jerry Lynn, her husband, Bill, her parents, and her three siblings. She is survived by her son, Kent Dunlap, and his wife Corde, two grandsons, Kyle and Bryce of Sand Springs, and her sister-in-law whom she raised, Linda McCormick and family, Wichita, and devoted nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Gary Austin, Shane McCormick, and Michael McCormick, Wichita, Kansas, Hans Landwehr, Edmond, Oklahoma, Brock Landwehr, Topeka, Kansas, and Harry Austin, Kansas City, Kansas. Visitation, with family present, will be Thursday, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Bartlesville, and funeral services will be held at the Dewey United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. Friday.
