Robert Paul "Bob" Adams, age 79 and former resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away at his home in Oklahoma City on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. Robert Paul Adams was born in Pawhuska, Oklahoma on October 18, 1935. He was the son of Joseph L. Adams and Bertha L. (Jackson) Adams. He grew up in the Pawhuska community and graduated with the Pawhuska High School class of 1954. Bob joined the Oklahoma National Guard, 45th Infantry Division, 145 AAA Artillery Battalion, where he served from 1953 to 1961. He and Charlotte Ann Hoopes were united in marriage on June 21, 1958 in Pawhuska.at the First Assembly of God church. Charlotte preceded Bob in death on August 6, 1997. They had been married for 39+ years prior to her death. He became an employee of Phillips Petroleum Company in October 1955 where he worked in the Corporate Purchasing Department in Bartlesville. He held various positons in Materials and Materials Management before transferring to the Refining Division's Kansas City Refinery in August of 1974. He was appointed Purchasing/Warehouse Supervisor for the Kansas City Refinery in August 1977. When the refinery shut down in 1982, Bob was transferred to Corporate Purchasing/Payroll and he remained in Kansas City to handle disposition of the refinery assets. In August 1985, the Company transferred Bob to Bartlesville where he became supervisor of the Corporate Investment Program. In the spring of 1988, he moved to the Corporate Procurement Division as Buying Coordinator and Administrator of Small and Minority Business Affairs for Phillips. Bob was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Bartlesville and previously was a member at the First Assembly of God Church, Overland Park, Kansas. He served in various positions of leadership including trustee, deacon, outpost commander of the Boy Scout Troop and later, the Royal Ranger Outpost. He was a teacher of various Sunday school classes over time, including high school, young marrieds and adults. Also among his memberships, Bob served on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Minority Supplier Development Council (OMSDA) for five years and as Chairman from July 1990 to July 1993. On a personal note, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and anything out-of-doors. Also, he was a very talented carpenter, making furniture for family which will be treasured. He very much enjoyed spending time with family. On June 25, 1999, Bob and Judy A. (Solomon) Stapleton were united in marriage in Bartlesville and they made their home there before moving to Oklahoma City in 2011 to be closer to family. Survivors include his wife, Judy, of the home in Oklahoma City; children, Lesa Doerstling and her husband, Scott, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Lynda Oliver and her husband, Mark, of Burleson, Texas, and step-son, Ty Stapleton and his wife, Dawna, of Norman, Oklahoma; and six grandchildren, Kirsten Oliver, Mackenzie Doerstling, Ciarra Stapleton, Steven Doerstling, Mark Robert Oliver, and Cameo Stapleton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Charlotte: and four brothers and four sisters. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Parkinson's Foundation, ALS Foundation, Spirit Church Building Fund, or Spirit Church Scholarship Fund.
