Benjamin Funeral Service - Nowata, Oklahoma.................................................... Graveside services for Robert E. (Bob) Bailey of rural Childers will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Nowata Relocated Cemetery with Pastor Wendell Abbott officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Benjamin Funeral Service. Robert E. Bailey passed away January 19, 2016 at his home in rural Childers. He was born December 24, 1930 at Chelsea, OK to William and Pauline (Allen) Bailey. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1956. Bob moved to the Childers area in 1982. He worked as a contractor and carpenter. As a young boy, he worked with his dad and brothers in logging. He enjoyed working with wood, building houses, high rise buildings, swimming pools, tennis courts, and cabinets. He was a builder of 17 log, rustic structures of the Prairie Song Museum located East of Dewey. Along with the building, he designed the saloon, built half of the benches in the Wild Wood Chapel and made the wooden plaque that hangs at the front of the chapel. He also built the fireplace and upstairs of the cabin house, sandstone patio, picnic tables, and many others. He also played the mandolin. Robert is survived by his wife Jewell and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and 2 brothers. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
