BENJAMIN FUNERAL SERVICE 918-273-2700...………….Lifelong Nowata resident Robert (Bob) Eugene Blum (82) passed from this life Sunday, April 21, 2019.
Bob was born March 21, 1937 to Frank and Roselyne (Deiley) Blum, and raised on the family farm in Nowata, OK. He graduated from Nowata High School in 1955. Bob served as a soldier in the Oklahoma National Guard under the Thunderbirds Battalion. On April 28, 1956 he married Carolyn Keithley and was married to her for 30 years. Work as a doodlebugger for Phillips Petroleum took Bob to Pampa, TX. He soon returned to Nowata as part of the management of the Phillips bulk and distribution, operating Phillips 66 and then years later Bob's DX service station. Bob ended his career working for Rodgers County. Bob was a lifelong member of St. Catherine Catholic Church where he enjoyed worship and fellowship. Bob's favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, playing cards with his friends, his word search books, and casino trips with Anita. He loved watching sports, live and on TV. His favorites were football and baseball, especially Nowata Ironmen, OU Sooners football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Bob's greatest joys included his loving companion of 18 years Anita Pierson, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Bob will be missed by all who knew him.
Preceding Bob in death are his parents, Frank and Roselyne Blum, sister Donna Steiner, daughter-in-law Kathy Blum, grandson Keith Andrew Blum, and ex-wife and friend Carolyn Blum. Survivors include his children Steve and wife Lily Blum of Claremore, Mark Blum of Tulsa, Phil and wife Gayle Blum of San Antonio, TX, Janet Foster of Wichita, KS; seven grandchildren, Ryan Blum, Brian Blum, Kristen Blum, Megan and husband Andrew Griffin, Sarah Foster, Phillip Foster, and Kevin Foster; six great-grandchildren; brother Daryl and wife Koleta Blum; and brother David and wife Janet Blum. Rosary services for Mr. Blum are 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 25, at Benjamin Funeral Home with the funeral mass being held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2019 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church with Father Jose Thottathil. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Nowata, Oklahoma.
