Robert Lloyd "Bob" Ellis, 81 year old rural Vinita rancher, passed away at his home, early Tuesday, May 2, 2017. He was born on January 31, 1936 in Wynona, Oklahoma to Neumaris Dave Ellis and Alice Lucinda (Klause) Ellis. On March 6, 1955, Bob married Juanita Faye Medlam, they were married nearly 60 years before she passed away on December 10, 2014. He worked in the insulation business for many years, and also served as business agent for the insulators union in Wichita, Kansas. Bob and Juanita moved to the lake area in 1966 from Wichita, and later purchased their ranch in 1974. He raised stocker cattle on his ranch. Bob was a member of the Cleora Baptist Church, the Texas and Southwest Cattleman's Association's and was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Lawrence, Kansas Lodge. Preceding him in death were his wife, parents, two brothers, David N. Ellis in 2007 and Alva Lee Ellis in 2010, also a niece and nephew, Kim Barlow and Stephen Ellis. The family includes; his children, Susan Davenport and husband Ferris of Vinita, Beth Williams and husband Clayton of Kansas, Oklahoma, James Robert "Jim" Ellis and wife Gaylene of Vinita; a sister, Martha Wright and husband John of Sperry; sister in-law, Wanda Ellis of Skiatook; grandchildren, Donnie and Dennie Peters, Greg, Stephen and Jonathan Williams, George Davenport; great-grandchildren, Lance and Madison Peters, Rich, Cayson and Raimey Williams. The graveside service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita, with Pastor Leon Landrum officiating.
