Benjamin Funeral Service - Robert Donald Hamil, 92 year old Nowata resident passed from this life Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was born in Nowata County May 10, 1922 to Edward and Victoria (Wing) Hamil. Bob attend school in Nowata and enlisted in the United States Army serving during World War II. Bob was very proud of his military service and was a member of the VFW. After he got out of the Army Bob attended trade school in Coffeyville where he trained to be a machinist. He worked at North American Rockwell, in Tulsa as an equipment operator until his retirement. On September 4, 1966 he married Ruby Velma Vaughan in Nowata. Bob enjoyed fishing, camping, and boating. He was a woodworker and built his kitchen cabinets as well as many bird houses. He was an avid Oklahoma Sooner football fan. Bob was a very kind and caring man and will be missed by all who knew him. Preceding Mr. Hamil in death are his parents, Ed and Victoria Hamil; his wife Ruby Velma Hamil; and siblings, Lester Hamil, Myrtle Cameron, George Hamil, Russell Hamil, Gene Hamil, Edna Chair, Eunice Payton, Willie Hamil, Joseph Hamil, and Mable Gatewood. Survivors include his step children, Robert Demaree and his wife Terry, of Bartlesville, Linda Demaree Vlahon, of Owasso; step grandchildren Maria and Penelope Vlahon; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
