Robert "Bob" Eugene Hamm, Sr. died early Tuesday morning October 7, 2008 from cancer. He was born in Denison, IA to John and Agnes (Dooley) Hamm. As a teenager he enlisted in the Marines, serving in the Korean War and was awarded a purple heart. He was employed with McDonald Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa, OK for more than 40 years before retiring. Bob was a member of Carter Baptist Church in Afton, the Chosin Few, and the McDonald Douglas Retirement Group. Bob was a man with a big heart who lived to make his wife, Roberta, and those around him happy. He enjoyed volunteering and was the first man to go into the Craig General Hospital Auxiliary. He liked to stay busy and was always tinkering with something. He loved to mow yards and work crossword puzzles, but most of all he loved his family. Bob is survived by his wife Roberta, five children: Larry Hamm and wife Nadine of Broken Arrow, Carol Ponder and husband Bill of Foyil, Lynn Coombes and husband Marty of Broken Arrow, Denise Dotson and husband David of Tulsa, Shelli Temple and husband Mark of Owasso, and daughter-in-law Connie Hamm of Miami, OK. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, his sister Beverly Curtis of Madison, WI, 3 nephews, 1 niece, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, one son Robert Hamm, Jr., and grandson Bradley Coombes. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday October 9, 2008 at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday October 10, 2008 at the Vinita First Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Wise and Ralph Heiney officiating, with internment to follow at Ballard Cemetery in Bernice.
