Robert Lee Hicks, 56-year-old Delaware resident, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville. Robert Lee Hicks was born July 25, 1951 in Nowata, Oklahoma to Vernon H. Hicks and Frances Naomi Beu-Hicks. He grew up and attended schools in Delaware. Mr. Hicks served his country for 3 years in the Navy during Vietnam. Mr. Hicks enjoyed hunting and fishing and was considered by many an outdoorsman. He spent countless hours tending to his chickens. He raised the chickens for eggs that he gave away to friends and family. He enjoyed gardening and just about anything else that gave him an excuse to be outside. Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife Betty Hicks of the home; by his father Vernon Hicks; by one son, Robert "Bobby" Hicks, Jr. of Nowata; by one daughter, Bethany Marie of Nowata; by two step-children, Larry Pollett of Coffeyville and Melissa Pollett of Alabama; by one brother, Vernon Hicks, Jr. of Delaware; by two sisters, Maxine Perser of Partridge, Kansas, and Joyce Fisher of Nowata; by eight grandchildren; by two step-grandchildren; and by numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother; by one daughter, Krista; by his grandparents, Walter Hicks, Eva Hicks, Ernest Beu, and Stella Beu.
