Robert E. Lee, 84 year old rural Vinita resident, died Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Rosewood Terrace after an extended illness. He was born January 26, 1926 in Bixby to Josh and Lucy (Blood) Lee. Robert moved to this area with his family when he was ten years old. On December 7, 1945 he married Beatrice Spotts in Oswego, Kansas; they celebrated their 64th year anniversary this past December. He worked for the Rhinehart-Donovan Electric Line Construction Company, and then for 32 years he worked for the Eastern State Hospital in many capacities, lastly as head plumber, before retiring in 1986. Robert was also a farmer-stockman. He loved being outside working on the farm, fishing and enjoying his family. The family includes; his wife Beatrice of the home, his children, Thelma Hawkins of Oklahoma City, Dana Mattox of Stillwater, Robert Lee of Vinita, David Lee of Vinita, Virgil Lee of White Oak, Johnny Lee of Vinita, Bobbie Lee of Vinita; brothers Kinnith Lee of Arizona, Jack and Jerome Lee both of Vinita; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, a son, Richard Gene Lee in 2006, a brother Luden Lee, four sisters, Luvinia Siler, Geneva Sharp, Virginia Siler and Faye Chaulk. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Luginbuel Chapel with Rev. Jerry Ogdon officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita.
