R.P. (Robert Perry) Marshall, age 96 and resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on October 11, 2014 in the Jane Phillips Medical Center, Bartlesville. R. P. was born in Bartlesville on October 4, 1918. He was the son of Maude (House) Marshall and Tom Marshall. He spent his early years in west Bartlesville, attending Lincoln school and graduating from Bartlesville High School. After high school, R.P. furthered his education by attending Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri. He served 6-1/2 years in the U.S. Army as a Flight Surgeon's assistant. As a young man on the west side of Bartlesville, he drove the "town herd" of cows to and from pasture in Osage County. He was always interested in horses and at one time, aspired to be a veterinarian. R.P. was married to Lillie Ann Tunnell on May 12, 1945 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Upon release from the service, he and his new bride moved to Bartlesville where he worked for Phillips Petroleum Company for 45 years. R.P. was active in the Mental Health Association and was instrumental in establishing a pilot program for children of special needs who were not included in the public school system. He remained active in Washington Co. ARC (now Employability) for many years. In R.P.'s retirement years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. He loved family get-togethers and sharing stories of his childhood years and his years of working at Phillips. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Ann; two sons, Robert T. Marshall and his wife, Sharon, of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Michael L. Marshall and his wife, Sandy, of Georgetown, Texas; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Dana Sue Marshall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Employability, 501 S.W. Virginia, Bartlesville, OK 74003; Bartlesville First Church, 4715 Price Rd., Bartlesville, OK 74006; or to the charity of choice. Graveside services for R.P. will be held on Wednesday, October 15, at 10:00 AM, in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, Bartlesville.
