Rodger Lynn Springer, 65 year-old resident of Strang, died Sunday October 23, 2011 at the St. John's Medical Center in Tulsa. He was born April 14, 1946 in Portland Oregon. Rodger was a graduate of Strang High School and attended NEO A & M College in Miami. He served his country in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969 stationed in Germany. Rodger was married to Dorothy "Colleen" Woods on December 23, 1967 in Ketchum at the United Methodist Church by Rev. Howard Young. He was an auto mechanic for many years at the Fleming/Aldridge Chevrolet Dealership in Pryor. Rodger was of the Methodist faith and a 3rd degree mason, belonging to the Adair Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, NASCAR racing and watching football games on television. The family includes: his wife Colleen of the home, children, Rodger Lynn Springer, Jr. and Brandy of Spavinaw, Jason Ray Springer and Shelly of Strang, Robert Springer and Teri of Langley, Heather Kay Springer of the home; sister Cheryl Thornton and husband Gary of Moore, a very special friends, Wendell Jennings of Adair; and Rodney Pullen, uncle Bill Adair and wife Jeanie of Spavinaw; and his special friends from the Community of Strang. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, his mother, his father, mother and father in-law, his special Grandma Aunt Betty. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday October 26, 2011 at the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Chapel. The funeral will be held Thursday October 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Strang Fire Department, with Pastor Scott Bearden and Slug Monahan officiating. Interment and military rites will follow at the Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery. Casket bearers will be: Jack Sharon, Brad Harvey, Steven Harvey, Darrell "Bubba" Moore, Jeremy Davis, and Randy Gwinn. Honorary bearers are, J. D. Easter, Rick Davis, Rocky Squirrel, Bobbie Joe Sasser, Wendell Jennings and Gary Wood. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home of Langley.
