Rosalea Bates

Rosalea Wintafred Bates, 94-year-old former Nowata resident, passed from this life to be with Jesus in her Heavenly home on Friday, June 11, 2010 at her sister-in-law's home in Chelsea. Wintafred Bates was born February 12, 1916 in Nowata, Oklahoma to Fred Bates and Lorinda Ann Doerflinger-Bates. She spent most of her life in the Nowata and Craig County area. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, and doing crafts. She also enjoyed babysitting her nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, great-great-great nieces and nephews, as well as several of the neighboring children. She absolutely loved children. Preceding her in death were her parents; seven brothers, Chaney, Hubert, Kenneth, Elmer, Alex, Eugene, and Henry; three sisters, Betty Jane, Margariett Lucille, and Jessie Maxine; three nephews, Jackie Ray Bates, Gregory Howell, and Ron McSpadden. Wintafred is survived by three sisters, Irene Robison and husband Ross of Claremore, Annitta Coppedge and husband Bill of Las Vegas, Nevada, Gwendolyn Giles of Big Cabin; by a special sister-in-law, Jessie Bates who has shared her home for the last four years; two special nephews that helped to care for their aunt, Tim Bates and wife Melinda of Chelsea and Tony Bates and wife Janet of Chelsea; a special niece that helped care for her aunt, Melissa Powell; by nieces, Margary, Lina, Marilyn, Joni, Caroljean, Ruth Ann, Debra, Joyce, Mary, Lindy, Ann Marie Schnieder, Joanie Mayer, Patti Grennen; by nephews, Robert Dale Bates, Hubert Ray Bates, Fred Alan Bates, Billy Coppedge, Joe Coppedge, Randy McSpadden, Sid Woodall, Andy Woodall; by great nieces and nephews; by great-great nieces and nephews; and by great-great-great nieces and nephews; by other family and a host of friends.
