Rosetta Mitchell

MITCHELL(Simpson)-Rosetta L. ("LaVerne"), age 79, passed away on July 28, 2011 in Langley, OK. Formerly of Omaha, LaVerne was a teacher within the District 66/Westside Public School system. She taught students at both the Elementary and Junior High levels. After a long career as an educator LaVerne retired with her husband to the Grand Lake area in Oklahoma close to where they were both born and raised. LaVerne was a graduate of Cal-State-Fullerton in California with a degree in Art. She also attended Northeastern Oklahoma A & M in Miami, OK where she met her husband. They were married in December of 1950. Throughout her life she enjoyed many artistic pursuits including painting, creating jewelry and most of all sewing. While in Langley, LaVerne became an active member of her new church, South Grand Lake Christian Church. Preceded in death by her husband Lloyd K. Mitchell, she is survived by her two children and their spouses Sammy K. and Terri Lynne Mitchell of Tulsa, OK, and Natha A. and John Waldbaum of Omaha, NE. and 4 grandchildren, Adam, Jared, Matthew and Cheyenne, and her brother Leroy Simpson of Woodland Park, CO. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m, Monday, August 1, 2011 at the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home, 536 Highway 28, Langley Oklahoma. Interment immediately thereafter at Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery south of Langley, OK on HWY-82.
