Roy L. Huffman, 88 year old Vinita (formerly of Big Cabin) resident, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2015 in Tulsa. He was born on July 3, 1927 in Big Cabin to Roy N. and Iris (Smith) Huffman. Roy served his country in the US Army from 1946-1947. He married Daphna Clellene "Dude" Hanna on July 19, 1957 in Miami, she preceded him in death in January of 2015. Roy was a well-known race horse trainer in the area and a mentor to many other up and coming trainers. He was also a cattle rancher for many years. Roy was a member of the Big Cabin Baptist Church, the Oklahoma Horse Racing Association and the Dale Peace Post #40 of the American Legion. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Dude Huffman, a son Gene Helm and his wife Carol, grandson, Chell Kilpatrick and a great-grandson Dakota Helm. The family includes; his children, Lahona Young and husband Bob of Vinita, Mary Kilpatrick and husband Tim of Lenapah, Don Huffman and wife Beverley of Billings, Montana; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Vinita, with Pastor Leon Landrum officiating.
