Funeral services for Roy Shepard Tanquary are 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Delaware First Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Tanquary officiating. Roy Shepard Tanquary, 94, of Bartlesville passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 at his home. He was born January 27, 1918 in Baxter Springs, Kansas to Olin Roy and Dora Ethel (Shepard) Tanquary. Roy grew in Baxter Springs and graduated high school, there. After high school, he went to work for Rogers Iron Works in Joplin, Missouri. Roy enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and after his honorable discharge, returned to Rogers Iron Works for two more years. He married Keturah Love McNabb on June 12, 1949 at Carthage, Missouri and went to work for Kansas City Southern/ Joplin Union Depot. Roy was a clerk for the railroad for 35 years before his retirement. The Tanquarys moved from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to Bartlesville, over eight years ago. Roy had attended Joplin Business College and earned an Associate's degree from Druy College in Springfield, Missouri. He was a member of the Broken Arrow Baptist Church and the Baxter Springs Masonic Lodge. Roy enjoyed camping, fishing, photography and was an avid swimmer. He was proud of his grandsons and enjoyed singing bass in the church choir. Roy is survived by a son, Pastor Tom Tanquary and wife Judy of Bartlesville, OK; a daughter, Rebecca Sue Hormann and husband John of Scamania, Washington, five grandsons and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Olin and Dora Tanquary; his wife Keturah Love Tanquary; a sister, Vivian Tanquary.
