Ruby Carpenter

Ruby Jo "Jocie" Carpenter Ruby Jo "Jocie" Carpenter was born September 19, 1921, in McAlester, Oklahoma, to Ruby Steven and Rosalee (Walker). She passed from this life September 10, 2007, at Jane Phillips Nowata Health Center, in Nowata, after reaching 85 years, 9 months, and 21 days. She attended school in McAlester and continued her education at Oklahoma A&M, (Oklahoma State University), where she received her bachelor's degree. In 1942 she married Joe C. Carpenter in McAlester. His work moved them all over the World. She lived in Argentina, Singapore, Egypt, Iran, and then back to the United States. She loved socializing and setting up social events in all the countries she lived in. Her dogs were a special part of her life as well as her flower gardens. She also enjoyed painting in her younger years. She was always close to her family and loved them very much. She will be miss by all who knew her. Preceding Mrs. Carpenter in death are her parents; her husband Joe; an infant son; and two sisters, Bonita Lynn, and Dorothy Walston. Surviving Mrs. Carpenter are two sisters, Nellie Lee Harper, of West Lake, Ohio, and Lorrine Perry, of McAlester, nephews, Paul Harper, Don Harper, Steve Walston, Dean Perry, John Walston, David Lynn, niece Sue Sanders, many other relatives and a host of friends. The family suggests donations to the Heart or Diabetes Association.
