Luginbuel Funeral Home Vinita -- Ruby Marie (Harris) Powers, 56 year old Vinita resident, died on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the Heartsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Vinita. She was born on October 21, 1957 in Welch to Etta Mae (Serviss) and James Robert Harris. Ruby attended school and graduated from Welch High School. She worked as a nurse's aide for 28 years and 8 months at the Oklahoma Forensic Center (Eastern State Hospital) in Vinita, retiring on April 1, 2010. Ruby was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading. Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, Frank and Jim Harris, and a sister Susie Harris. The family includes: her sisters, Mary Ahrens and husband Eugene of Welch, Dorothy Peterson of Enid, Oklahoma; brother, Bobby Harris of Vinita; nephews, Bradley Harris, James Robert Harris, Jr., John Peterson and Michael Ahrens; one niece Charla Evans; and numerous other friends and family. The family will receive friends from 6-7 PM Friday, evening, May 16, 2014 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The funeral will be held on Saturday, May 17 at 10:00 AM at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Vinita, with Greg Highsmith officiating. Interment will follow at the Rogers Cemetery west of Welch.
