November 15, 1928 — March 20, 2008

Ruby Faye Wayland, 78, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at her home in Afton, Oklahoma. Ruby was born in Catoosa, Oklahoma on November 15, 1928, to Gene and Frances (Cates) Ash. On May 22, 1949 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ruby married Bob Wayland. They shared 58 years together as husband and wife. He survives her at the home. She is also survived and will be missed by her two children; Cherri Martin and husband Glenn of Sperry, OK; Mike Wayland and wife Barbara of Afton, OK; one sister, Freda Nix of Broken Arrow, OK; three grandchildren; Amanda Martin of Muskogee; Robert Wayland and his wife Holly of Cleora, OK and Bliss Wayland of Tulsa, OK. There are also two great-grandchildren; Daren and Tommy Martin. There are numerous nieces and nephews. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, as well as one brother; Jimmie Ash. Ruby spent her life as a homemaker and housewife. She enjoyed caring for others, and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed keeping her vegetable garden, watching birds, and reading a good book. A graveside service will be held Monday, March 24, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the McLaughlin Cemetery in Afton, Oklahoma. Chaplain Geoff Buffalo of Heaven and Earth Hospice will preside. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Heaven and Earth Hospice, 3 South Main, Miami, OK, 74354. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral home of Vinita. On line condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
