Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove - Russell O. Peal, of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away at the age of 77, Friday, March 14, 2014, following a lengthy illness resulting from Agent Orange, contracted during his time in Vietnam. Russell is survived by his wife Betty, and his beloved dogs Heidi and Haley, of the home, daughters Terri Peal-Conklin and husband Marty of Joplin, Missouri, and Sherry Peal-Schutz , of Marshfield, Missouri, five grandchildren, Casey, Jacob, Heather, Kimberlie, and Brock, and one great grandchild, Kaylynn. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Davis, of North Carolina, Brenda Vance, of Florida, and three brothers, Larry Peal, of West Virginia, Jennings Peal, of Indiana, and David Peal, of Florida. Russell was born on November 5, 1936, in Bowne Mont, West Virginia, to Russell and Grace Virginia (Porter) Peal. Russell graduated from Nitro High School in Nitro, West Virginia, in 1954. Russell married Betty Summers on February 28, 1959, in S. Charleston West Virginia. He proudly served his country for over twelve years in the United States Marine Corps, serving three tours in Vietnam. Russell received awards for archery, aviation safety, and Operations Against Guerrilla Forces as well as honors from the United States Marine Corps Rifle Squad. After leaving the Marine Corps, Russell worked for B.F. Goodrich in Miami, Oklahoma. In the late 1980's Russell and Betty moved to the Grove area, where Russell worked for Vista Towers as a maintenance supervisor. Russell was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge and served as Exalted Ruler. He was also a member and officer of the Grand Lake Bass Club for twenty plus years. Russell was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for Russell will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 19, 2014, at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma, Thomas Conklin will officiate. Interment will follow at Olympus North Cemetery, where the Grove Veterans Ritual Team will provide military honors. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home. Notes of encouragement for the family may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
