Ruth Lewis

Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita 918-256-5555 ------ Ruth C. Lewis, 93 year old resident of Vinita, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was born on June 25, 1921 in Rogers Mills County, Oklahoma to Joshua and Elizabeth (Giyer) Copeland. Ruth worked as a cook for Big Cabin Schools, the No Name Café and other restaurants. She had lived in the Big Cabin and Afton, before moving to Vinita's Heartsworth House. Ruth was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, poetry, journaling, and gospel music. Preceding her in death were, her parents, and eleven siblings. The family includes: her daughter, Irene Bohannan of Miami; a son, Gene Taylor of Pryor; grandchildren, Deborah Koesler and husband Mike of Vinita, Greg Tatum of Afton, Malinda Bohannan of Miami, Kathy, Art and Terry; great-grandchildren, Amy, Shana, Lisa and Tara; and four great-great-grandchildren. The graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Fairland Cemetery in Fairland, Oklahoma, with Pastor Rick Barrett officiating.
