Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home.....918-253-3222....There are no services planned. Ruth Vera Locke was born to Phillip H. Locke and Flora V. Redman on January 30, 1928 in Leadville, Colorado. She married Basil Francis Shaw (Buck) on April 14, 1945. They had four children, Richard, Ray, Janice and Bunny. Buck and Ruth loved each other deeply, they suffered a tragedy when they lost their son Ray Dean Shaw in 1961. They lived in Colorado until 1968 when they moved to Wichita, Kansas due to Buck's health issues. They lived there and owned a bar called "The U & I Bar" until Buck's death on September 17, 1972. Losing her husband, who was her biggest admirer and champion, changed her. In 1978 Ruth moved to Jay, Oklahoma to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She loved being a grandmother and always had things to teach the kids. She loved to bake and taught her grandchildren how to churn butter, bake bread, and she made the best biscuits and gravy. Grandma Ruth loved to share the family history, genealogy was a passion and she passed that passion to her family. She loved to listen to the baseball games on the radio, she had a passion for crafts and making things for people. She believed everything in life happened for a reason, and she passed that thinking down to family. A grandparent is a little bit parent, a little bit teacher, and little bit best friend, and that was what Ruth was to everyone in her life. Ruth was preceded by her son Ray Dean Shaw, Her parents Phillip & Flora, and her step dad Carl Sievers, her husband Basil (Buck) Shaw, and her daughter Bunny Ann Shaw. She is survived by her son Richard L. Shaw Sr. and his wife Helen, and her daughter Janice Ward, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and even great great grandchildren.
