Sammy Joe Wynn, of Vinita, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012. Sam was born on October 23, 1945, in Welch, Oklahoma, to Ted and Velma (Beaves) Wynn. Sam was a graduate of Welch High School, Miami NEO, and Pittsburg State University. While attending PSU, sister Frances introduced Sam to Jennifer Terry. He was united in marriage to Jennifer in Joplin, Missouri, on January 27, 1967. Upon graduation at PSU, Sam took a job teaching industrial arts and drafting at Nevada High School in Nevada, Missouri. Sam taught from 1970-1977. In August of 1977, Sam and Jennifer moved to Vinita to begin his own construction business. In this capacity, Sam built or remodeled many homes and businesses in the area. The past several years his business focus has primarily been in the commercial construction of Osborn Drug Stores and their affiliates. In addition to the building of his construction company, Sam built and raised a strong and loving Christian family. Sam was a patient and kind man valued for his friendship. He supported his large family in their many endeavors. As well, he faithfully served his church and church family. Sam would go out of his way to do anything for his family, especially his grandchildren. He put on many miles driving to help his children and to watch his grandchildren in their many and varied activities. As a servant to God and others, he will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife Jennifer of the home; sons: Sam Wynn, Jr. and wife Kimberly of Vinita, Roger Wynn and wife Crystal of Miami, and Patrick Wynn of Vinita; 9 siblings: Catherine Jordan of Joplin, MO, Ralph King of Bluejacket, Frances Short of Joplin, MO, Doug King of Welch, Ted Wynn, Jr. of Afton, Paul Wynn of Denver, CO, Tom Wynn of Disney, Lonnie Wynn of Welch, and Ronnie Wynn of Ft. Scott, KS; 8 grandchildren: Calvin, Anthony, Corbey, Meredith, Keagan, Bayley, Christina, and Destiny, as well as a host of friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents Ted and Velma Wynn, his infant son Joseph Kevin Wynn, and sister Mamie King. Visitation will be from 6:00PM-8:00PM, Friday, December 7, 2012 at the Luginbuel Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2:00PM, Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Craig County Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Busch officiating. Interment will follow at Rogers Cemetery near Welch, OK.
