Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita 918-256-5555. Samuel F. Egnor, age 76, a life-long resident of rural Vinita and Big Cabin went to be with his Lord, surrounded by his loved ones, on Thursday, April 27, 2017. Sam was born on March 29, 1941 to Babe and Alta (Wilkinson) Egnor. He was the fourth of eight children. He married Sandra K. Maxfield on Valentine's Day in 1970. They were constant companions for 47 years until the very end. They made their home in the rolling hills of both Big Cabin and rural Vinita. Sam graduated from Big Cabin High School in 1959. He served in the National Guard immediately after graduating. Sam's early career was as an equipment operator for the State Highway Department and Peabody Coal Company. He spent most of his life as a farmer and rancher, as well as the operator of a dairy for a number of years. He was most at peace tending to his cattle and garden, but also enjoyed playing the guitar and would often incite a sing-along. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the OKC Thunder. He will best be remembered as a truly kind and humble man, with an uncanny wit and sense of humor. Always quick to offer assistance to anyone in need, Sam served as an exceptional example to his three children and grandchildren. Sam took the most pride in his family. He was the loving father of Travis L. Egnor (married to Julia), Amber G. (Egnor) Martin (married to Kerry) and Kenneth J. Egnor (married to LaTasha). As much as he loved his children, his grandchildren were the sunshine of his life. Adia, Tava and Finn along with his loyal furry friend OJ, were his co-conspirators in all things fun. He loved sharing the adventures of the "farm life" with them. He also had five step-grandchildren, Lexi, Zaxlee, Dillen, Trystan and Tylor. Sam enjoyed the blessings that come along with a large extended family. He loved his siblings dearly and shared a special bond with each. His siblings include, LeElla Leake, Donna Trout, Cecil Egnor (Deloris), Dee Dee Clouse (Phil), Butch Egnor, Karen Shipman (Rick) and Cheryl Harmon (John). Many cousins, nieces and nephews added such joy to his life. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the White Oak Cemetery, with Pastor Kevin Baker officiating. A special thanks to the staff at Legacy Hospice for their source of comfort to Sam and family during the final days of his life.
