Shirley Ann (Laird) Adams passed away Friday afternoon, June 14, 2024, at her home in Bartlesville.
Shirley was born in Pawhuska, Oklahoma on January 31, 1950, to Clement Clifford Laird and Ola Sue (Wright) Laird. She grew up and received her education in Nelagoney, Oklahoma.
Shirley married Bill Tayrien on September 21, 1965, and made their home in Okesa, Oklahoma. They had two daughters, Teresa Lynn and Shawn Marie Tayrien. The couple divorced after 23 years. She later married Lonnie Joe Adams on September 30, 1989, in Bartlesville and remained married for 35 years. Shirley was a long-time employee of Weeze’s Café and cooked at several other locations, as well.
Shirley loved horseback riding in her earlier years, camping, skiing, basketball, softball, and had a passion for music and dancing.
She is survived by her husband, Lonnie Joe Adams of the home; daughter, Teresa McLain and husband, Mike of Okesa; step-children, Gina Haberly of Pawhuska, Holly Honeycutt of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Joshua Adams of Indiana and Kelli Garza and husband, Damien of Bartlesville; sister, Sandra Stoy of Dewey, Oklahoma; brother, Rick Laird of Pawhuska; brother-in-law, Ron Adams and wife, Debi of Bartlesville and their daughter, Lindsey Adams, Barltesville; brother-in-law, Danny Bullick of Ramona, Oklahoma; grandsons, Matthew Allen and wife, Kebi of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, and Mickeul Smith of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; granddaughters, Amanda Davis and husband, Brant of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Melissa Allen of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Britney Keeline and husband, John of Skiatook, Becky Smith and husband, Willy of Barnsdall and Melanie Sweeney and husband, Kylee, also of Barnsdall; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, as well as too many nieces, nephews, close family and friends to list.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford & Sue; by her daughter, Shawn Marie Smith; by her brothers, Danny Joe, Kenneth, Don, Joey, Gary and Larry Laird and Billy Stephenson; by a sister, Hope Bullick; by a great-granddaughter, Billie Jo Smith and by her most special father-in-law, Jack Adams.
Shirley’s Celebration of Life Service will be held at Osage State Park campgrounds, 4PM, Sunday, June 30. Bring you lawn chair, a covered dish, drinks of choice and if you play, a musical instrument. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, those who wish, make donations in Shirley’s name to Mary Martha’s or the Oklahoma Heart Association. Donations may be dropped off at the Celebration of Life Service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Bartlesville.
