Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, OK....918-253-3222....Shirley Ann Swinford, passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at the age of 78. Shirley was born on January 21, 1936 in Eucha, OK, the daughter of the late Johnnye Chopper and Helen (Hutchison) Davis. Shirley grew up in Eucha where she attended school until attending Jay High School graduating in 1954. She married Marion "Jim" Swinford on May 29, 1955 in Broken Arrow, OK. The couple resided in the Tulsa area until moving to Inola in 1967. They moved to the Jay area in 1981 where she lived her remaining life. Shirley worked various jobs in her life including, Hesston in Claremore, Nupar in Tiawah, and worked in the Maysville Convenient Shop, but most of her life she was a homemaker. Shirley enjoyed sports of all kinds especially the Dallas Cowboys, and anything OU. She kept score in the peewee leagues while Jim coached. Shirley also enjoyed working with flowers and plants, animals, and was known for her cooking especially her world famous noodles. Most of all she loved to be with her family especially her grandkids. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Gary Chopper and Frank Hutchison; one daughter Marcella Swinford, and granddaughter DeEdra Hancock. She is survived by her husband Marion "Jim" Swinford; four sons: Clifton "Sonny" Swinford of Tulsa, OK, Jimmy Swinford of Tulsa, OK, Johnny Swinford of Tulsa, OK, and Gerry Swinford of Oklahoma City, OK; two daughters: Deanna Ryan and her husband Frank of Coweta, OK; and Lisa Minix and her husband Bill of Tulsa, OK; two sisters: Carol Hamby of Jay, OK, and Aronda Robertson of Jay, OK; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held at the Southside Church of Christ in Jay, OK on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 2PM with Mr. Les Newkirk and Mr. Ron Walker, presiding. Burial will follow at the Duffield Cemetery, Jay, OK. The family will greet friends on Monday, January 5, 2015 from 6PM to 7PM at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, OK.
