Sonja Faye Ditmore, 71, of Nowata passed away Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, OK. Sonja was born on August 21, 1940 in Abilene, Texas to Johnnie Aton and Ollie Mae (Butler) Phariss. She graduated from high school in Midland, Texas and married Jack Ditmore on May 21, 1957. They moved around quite a bit as Jack was a grocery store manager. Sonja was his secretary in Nowata while he was manager of the Town and Country Grocery. They moved to several other stores and locations before settling here in Nowata about 8 months ago. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Sonja loved being with her family and took great care of them. They spent time together fishing, camping, and playing softball together. She was known for her cooking and keeping her house immaculate. Sonja also kept herself busy crocheting. She will be missed by all who knew her. Sonja is survived by her husband, Jack Ditmore of Nowata, OK; three children, Cathy Ditmore, Jack Ditmore and wife Starla, and Jana White and husband Richard; two sisters, Bobbi Rider and Gayle Bitner; six grandchildren, Lacy Edmondson, Shae Ditmore, Lynsi Burch, Richard White, Johnnie White, and Brandon White; three great grandchildren, Addison Edmondson, Emery Edmondson, and Jentri Burch. Sonja is preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Ollie Phariss, and two brothers, Jerral Phariss and James Lynn Phariss.
