Stanton Dee Embree, 66, of Nowata, left this physical life to live his eternal life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 27th, 2015. Dee was born to Dorothy Ellen Merrell Embree and Leonard Scott Embree on July 29, 1948. He was born in a house that is still standing, on 327 W. Choctaw. Dee attended school in Dallas, Vinita, Sand Springs, and Claremore, graduating from Nowata High School in 1968, making lifelong friendships. Dee was drafted in January 1969 where he served in Vietnam with the Big Red One 1st Infantry. Dee was very proud to have served his country and proud to be a Veteran. Dee returned from Vietnam on June 29, 1970 before being discharged, Dee traveled with the Honor Guard traveling in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas until his discharge from the Army. Dee married his childhood sweetheart and love of his life, Tommy Joyce Tidwell, on November 29, 1968. They made their home in Nowata, Oklahoma. They welcomed a Daughter, Robin Deanne, in 1971, and a son, Stanton Matthew, in 1976. Dee enjoyed hunting, fishing and coaching softball with his daughter and football with his son, watching the OU Sooners and the Mighty Nowata Ironmen. He also enjoyed following Shandee and Seth show their cattle and other activities. Dee worked at the National Zinc as an electrician for 25 years. He then he worked at Plattner Welding before retiring in 2002. Dee was an active member of FBC Nowata serving as a deacon as well as helping the Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief Program on the chainsaw crew where he traveled to Covington, LA, Bel Chase, LA, he helped cleanup ice storms in Nowata and Tahlequah and most recently a windstorm in Bartlesville. Dee was the first Skid Steer Trainer in the State and taught chainsaw training. Recently, Dee had reconnected with the men from his infantry and enjoyed travelling all over the states to visit and relive the old days. Dee is survived by his wife, Tommy Joyce Embree of the home, a daughter, Robin Deeanne Johnson and her husband, Jeff, of Nowata, a son, Stanton Matthew Embree and his wife, Kacey, of Chelsea, one grandson, Seth, of Nowata, two granddaughters, Shandee "Sissy" Johnson of Nowata and Makayla "Tootsie" Embree of Chelsea, one brother, Scott Embree, and his wife Miriam of Claremore, a nephew, Michael Embree and his wife Jill of Slidell, Louisiana, a niece, Missy Gass and her husband Brad of Coweta, a niece, Tracy Christian and her husband Nowel of Nowata, a niece, Allison Barrett and her husband, Clint of Round Rock, a niece, Cindy Forsberg and her husband, Doug of Tulsa, a niece, Rachel Tidwell of Bartlesville, a nephew, Tyler Tidwell of Daytona Beach, Florida, two sister-in-laws Barbra Tidwell of Nowata and Marilyn Tidwell of Nowata, a Brother-in-law David Tidwell of Nowata. Dee loved his home town of Nowata and never met a stranger. If you are reading this then you were probably his friend and a survivor as well. Dee is preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Jamey Tidwell.
