ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK (918) 336-5225 - Stella J. Hedman, age 95, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2017, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Our mother, Stella, went home to sing and dance at the feet of her Jesus. Stella Josephine Newton was born on October 18, 1921 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. She was the daughter of John Newton and Emily (Hill) Newton. She was raised in Arkansas until she reached her teens and she and her brother traveled by railroad to Oklahoma. After receiving her formal education, Stella married Carl J. Hedman on May 8, 1938 in Nowata, Oklahoma. She and her husband lived in Bartlesville for many years and while in their ‘50s, they moved to Washington state. In Washington, Stella became employed with Simplot Cannery, Ferndale, Washington as an assembly line technician where she worked for approximately 15 years while raising her family. Stella was a wonderful inspiration to all that she met. She was blessed with the gift of "Servitude". She served all of the churches that she attended over the years with love and grace. She taught Sunday School, taught Missionettes and faithfully filled communion cups. Stella and Carl raised 7 rambunctious and grateful children who survive her as follows: Mickey (Sandra) Hedman of Oolagah, Oklahoma, Rev. C. J. (Mary) Hedman of Elendale, North Dakota, Nina (Gary) Morgan of Bartlesville, Ernest (Karen) Hedman of Watertown, South Dakota, Oscar Jerry (Brenda) Hedman of Nowata, Oklahoma, LeAnna J. (Neil) Whistler of Houston, Texas; and Linda Peters of Bartlesville. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emily Newton; brother and sister-in-law, Rocky and Eula Newton; sister, Mae Hainsinger; son-in-law, Tim Peters; and great-great-grandbaby, Clyde Link. Come and go visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 AM-8:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave. Family will be present to greet friends on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 PM. Services for Mrs. Hedman will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery, Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Pastor Darrell Wooten will officiate, assisted by Rev. Ike Amaro. Arrangements are under the direction of the Arnold Moore and Neekamp Funeral Home.
