Funeral services for Stella Mae Lewis, 73 and a resident of Dewey, will be held Monday, December 4, 2017 at 10:00am at First Baptist Church of Ochelata in Ochelata, Oklahoma with Pastor Brian Myers officiating. Interment will follow at Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service. Visitation for Mrs. Lewis will be held at Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral of Bartlesville, Friday from 9am - 8pm; Saturday 8am - 5pm and Sunday, 1-6pm. The family will receive guests from 4-6 pm, Sunday. Stella Mae Lewis, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was born March 11, 1944 in Fanshawe, Oklahoma to Troy and Lillian (Martindale) Askew. Stella graduated from Bartlesville College High School and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. She married the love of her life, Gene Lewis, on August 2, 1962 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The couple moved to Dewey 54 years ago. Stella began her 45-year banking career on August 27, 1973 and recently retired as Vice President and Manager of American Bank of Oklahoma in Ramona. She was an active member of Bartlesville Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Ramona Senior Citizens Center. Stella was also a member of Sunrise Rotary Club, the Dewey Chapter Order of Eastern Star, American Business Women's Association, plus many, many other civic organizations. She was a founding board member of the Washington County Senior Center. She will be missed by all who knew her. Stella is survived by her husband, Gene of the home; two children, Kevin "Casey" Lewis of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Gene Ann Kerr and her husband Kelly of Jenks, Oklahoma; one brother, Leonard Askew of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and one sister, Margaret Steitler of Copan, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Brittnea Smith and husband Jayson of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Madison Lewis of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Chloe Lewis of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Julia Kerr of Jenks, Oklahoma, John Kerr Of Jenks, Oklahoma, and one great grandchild, Austen Smith, and a host of family and friends. Stella is preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Lillian Askew; two brothers Johnny Askew and infant Gregory Askew; one sister Janice Allen and one granddaughter Karlea Lewis.
