Stella Payton

Graveside funeral services for Stella Mae Payton will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Re-Located Cemetery, Nowata, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata. Stella Payton went home to be her Lord Jesus October 30, 2011. She was born February 23, 1923, in Humphrey, Arkansas to Charlie and Elizabeth (Derryberry) Hugg. In 1960 she moved to Nowata with her former husband Harold Lay. He passed away and in 2003 Stella moved to Bartlesville with her husband, Lewis Payton. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Stella enjoyed sewing, camping and just doing anything outside. She loved her family and friends. Preceding Mrs. Payton in death are her parents, Charlie and Elizabeth Hugg, her husband Lewis Payton, a son Harold David "Bud" Lay and an infant daughter Delores Jean. Survivors of Mrs. Payton are her daughter Coeda Compston, step daughter Liz Eccleston, sons-in-laws Dale Compson, and George Gillham, grandchildren Michelle Inman, Melissa and Eddie Laywell, Heather and Mike Garavaglia, Zach Eccleston, a great grandson Jordan Inman, great granddaughters Hannah and Baylee Laywell, her loving cat Effie, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
