Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma 918-786-2261 - Steven "Steve" Dale Shirley, 67 year old Grove resident, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015. Steve was born in Coleman, TX on April 23, 1948 to Billie Joe "Bo" and Doris Lee (Good) Shirley. In 1966 he graduated from Woodward High School in Woodward, Oklahoma. Steve pursued his love of art and history while attending college from 1966 - 1970. On February 18, 1984 he was united in marriage to Rebecca "Becky" (Smith) Cook. Steve was a man of many aspects. He owned and operated various businesses throughout his life. He owned S&S Construction and Walnut Valley Guide Service while living in Arkansas City, Kansas. Upon moving to Grove, Oklahoma in 1999 he started S&S Lawn Service and operated it until his retirement on January 1, 2015. Steve was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, snow skiing, gardening, and many other outdoor activities. He was also a phenomenal artist. He enjoyed creating and collecting various styles of artwork. Steve was a loving and caring man. He was the type who never met a stranger and was a best friend to many. Steve was often seen riding around town with Chloe, his French Bulldog. Above all Steve was a family man. He was loving husband, a proud parent and grandparent and cherished spending time with family. He brightened the lives of many and will be greatly missed. Survivors include his loving wife Becky of the home, father Bo Shirley of Lawn, TX, sisters: Joanna Shirley of Abilene, TX and Stacy (Shirley) Ricard and husband Gordon of Lawn, TX, children: Nathan Cook and wife Amy of Arkansas City, KS, Erica Cook of Springfield, MO, and Darin Shirley and wife Bryndi of Ozark, MO, grandchildren: Jacob Cook and Dylan Cook of Arkansas City, KS, and Eisley Shirley and Llewyn Shirley of Ozark, MO, two Nieces and seven Nephews. Steve is preceded in death by his mother Doris Shirley. Celebration of life services will be held at 3:00 PM on the 22nd of May 2015 at Cherokee Spur Ranch, 28597 S 4520 Rd, Afton, OK (www.cherokeespur.com).
